What is the Measure of Success?

The ultimate measure of success is not the money you make. It is not the amount of time you “have” to work. It is not the goals that you crush. It lies in the answer to these 2 questions: Are you happy when you get home? And, do you have a good relationship with God?

Shit, I just blew your mind a little bit, didn’t I?  It is not something we think about naturally. Some of us imagine that having a job making a crap ton of money and being able to buy whatever we want means that we are successful. Perhaps it is working towards goal after goal. Or maybe it is being famous...yeah, that is success for sure (sarcasm noted).

At the end of the day when you are driving home though, is home where you want to be? Is it a place of peace? Love? Are you excited to go home each day?

Do you spend time with God everyday and work on your spirituality?

If the answer to those questions is, “no” then I argue that you are not truly successful. Unless your household is a place of happiness for you (and your family) and you spend time with God, then everything else that you have done to make yourself successful has been done for naught. You gotta have the balance.

Work. Family/home life. Spirituality. Without this unity, you aren’t successful. I am talking REAL success here. The union is the cornerstone of contentedness and triumph, yet so many people forget to build their empires with these important materials. It is difficult. It takes a different kind of grit and gumption so they won’t put in the additional effort. They set their eyes on material success versus wholehearted success.

It is not the money, the fame, accolades or power that make you successful in life. If you set your mind on those things, you won’t ever be happy.

When you work hard towards your career goals, familial relationships and God...now that is the stuff. When you have that equilibrium, you have success. You won’t give a shit if you are rich or famous because you will realize that you are far beyond that.
