The Tribe - and Why Every Woman Should Have One

Did you ever stop and think about what kind of people you are friends with?  I mean really think about what they are like as human beings. If not, then you should pause for a moment and do it right now. I’ll wait.

What are they like? Do they have good habits? Are they successful? Do they work hard? Are they nice and kind? Are they a good influence? Do they build you up? Have your back? Make you want to be better?

Or

Do they gossip? Use you and others? Drag you down? Lazy? Mean? Judgmental? Are they jealous of you or others? Are they rude or mean? Are they a bad influence? Full of drama? Selfish?

You might think that it doesn’t matter what your friends are like...that it only matters what you are like. You are wrong. You are who you hang out with. If your friends are all kinda jerks, then you probably are one too. If you have friends that build you up and are positive influences, then there’s a great chance that you are the same way.

It is funny how that works, isn’t it? The tribe that you choose to surround yourself with says so much about you and who you are as a person, yet most people don’t give it a second thought. If you are around friends that drag you down, it is very difficult to break away from that. You feel bad, right? But if you want a better life for yourself then you have to forge new friendships that will help to mold you and keep you in line.

The tribe is so important. My goodness, especially for the younger generation out there. Choose your friends wisely. It doesn’t matter if they are deemed to be “popular” by others, what matters is their heart.

You want your friends to be a positive influence in your life. You want to surround yourself with people who are loving and nurturing. Who give freely. Who listen. Who encourage you to be the best version of yourself that you can be. Who love you for who you are. The friends who “call” you on your shit...yeah, those are the good ones because they do it because they only want the best for you. Who listen and give solid advice. They make you feel good about yourself and they want to see you succeed in everything you do. There is no jealousy, there is only happiness for any triumph you have.

Those, my dear ones, are the friends you want to have.

Your tribe needs to be strong and deliberately picked because it will effect your life, your decisions, your career path, your outlook in life...so many things! You probably never realized it.

I look back at some of the times in my life when I was unhealthy and making bad decisions...and guess what? That lifestyle and the bad decisions that were made at the time were fueled by who I was hanging around with. I bet you it is the same thing for you too. Think about it.

Ladies, your tribe needs to be women of faith and power. Positivity and strength. Success and drive. Women that work their asses off and also enjoy life. When you are around them, you should leave them with a smile on your face.

Imagine how much different life would be if we all learned this when we were young.

You want to better yourself? Hang around people that are successful.

Want to be healthy? Have healthy friends.

Want to be motived? Choose friends that motivate you.

You get it. You are who you hang out with.

So, pick your tribe wisely.
